Two Champions Return To The Warriors Octagon

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 7 October 2024; With the card for UAE Warriors 55 on the 22nd of October locked and loaded, the news across Middle East combat sports is spreading like wildfire that two beloved former champions of the regions number one MMA promotion are set to return on the most stacked card of the year.

Fight fans’ jaws hit the floor last year when Bruno Machado (16-9) unexpectedly retired from competition after successfully defending his Lightweight belt at UAE Warriors 36 with a first round TKO. Now ‘Caviera’ has decided to put the pipe and slipper aside to once again set the cage ablaze with his electrifying Muay Thai and silky Jiu-Jitsu. The Abu Dhabi-based Brazilian faces a fellow South American and UFC vet, Eduardo Garagorri (15-3). Embarking upon a 13-fight winning streak before an ultimately unsuccessful run in Vegas, Garagorri remains one of the biggest names in Uruguayan MMA. After putting on a striking clinic against Willian Poles in Santa Catarina, Brazil at UAE Warriors 48 in March this year, he has booked another promotional main card slot, and with plenty of first-round submission wins he is a perfect stylistic mirror of Machado with footwork, movement and power in his kickboxing allied to a persuasive grappling offence.

But the rumours swirling around this card failed to quell with just the sensational return of ‘Caviera’. Today we can reveal that one of the most popular figures in Arabic MMA and former UAE Warriors Light Heavyweight Champion Tarek Suleiman (12-8) will go to war against Oktagons’s Norwegian submissions specialist, Ole Magnor (8-8). Suleiman is a Syrian icon, a Dubai-based mainstay in the industry and an erstwhile Arabic language commentator respected throughout the Gulf, his highlight reel is the stuff of legend with a 12-year professional career in which he kept 16 bouts out of the judges hands.  Finishing Oli Thompson at UAE Warriors 6 in 2019 on his debut to take the 93kg buckle, he now makes the walk to the Warriors Octagon over two-and-a-half years since his last outing.

With its October events always coinciding with Abu Dhabi Showdown Week which for 2024 will culminate in UFC 308, UAE Warriors 55 is the biggest event of the promotional calendar and with more bout announcements imminent, including two headline title fights, expect Arabia’s biggest combat sports company to kick-off the fistivities in style!

UAE Warriors 55 is proudly presented by Palms Sports and takes place on the 22nd of October live from the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Further information available at www.uaewarriors.com
